Benzoin is a reddish-brown resin secreted by the benzoin tree and is a precious fragrance ingredient. The benzoin tree is primarily distributed in Vietnam, Cambodia, Sumatra, Thailand, and other regions. It is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 20 meters tall and blooms white flowers. People make triangular cuts in the tree to allow the sap to flow out and solidify into yellow resin, which turns orange-red after drying and oxidation. The entire plant has a fragrant aroma, with the resin portion having the most concentrated scent—this is what is known as benzoin fragrance. It naturally possesses a sweet vanilla note blended with amber undertones, with a warm and sweet vanilla ice cream warmth infused into its solid, substantial character. It is like the warm sun on a winter's day, a lullaby before sleep—serene and beautiful.
The sweet aroma of benzoin can soothe tension and stress, heal a sorrowful spirit, and bring calmness. It also provides tremendous benefits for respiratory system issues. However, despite its seemingly intuitive naming, benzoin's name does not actually derive from its calming scent or other death-related religious significance. Rather, it was named after an ancient region called the "Parthian Empire" from which it was imported into China.
Benzoin has an intense aroma and is frequently used as a fixative in the perfume industry. Adding just a small amount to other fragrances can showcase its characteristics, making the scent of perfume more stable and long-lasting. In LFP fragrance molecules, by combining the rich vanilla base notes of BA52 with the solid woody notes of BX28, a stable, warm, and sweet aroma is created. With the addition of some MA55 honey floral notes, it creates a fragrance make people feel safe and ssound.
